My Morning (Loss of the Rings)

My Morning

I knew today was ‘gonna stink
I dropped an earring down the sink.
Guess I don’t care, ’cause it was old
But then again, it was real gold.

The husband bought it long ago;
I never really liked it, though.
Ooops, dropped its mate, not by mistake.
(I hope those diamond chips were fake).

One more piece of baggage gone.
One more way I can move on.
Wish all could be so easily lost,
But one more bridge has now been crossed.

The rings, my past, have now been tossed
But, thinking, not that much is lost,
The future holds a precious gold . . .
Forsaking thoughts of growing “old.”
