October Path Quilt

I started this project in late October 2012 when I was teaching this simple trellis design to my quilt class at the library. I added the center panel, featuring the silhouette of a man walking his dog on a leaf-strewn path. The words inscribed on the quilt came from a wonderful prose piece, “October”, written by my friend Mike.

The finished quilt measures about 36″ by 44″, and was photographed as it is displayed in my living room. It was completed in February 2013 and is one of my favorite pieces.

With encouragement from friends, I entered this quilt in the recent Lake County Fair, in the category of “Quilted Wall Hanging, machine pieced, hand quilted”, and have won a third place ribbon!  This was my first try at entering any of my work in the Fair.  To celebrate, I bought myself a Lobster Roll from the “Maine Thang” food truck.
